Fatal Blowout Kills Oak Hill Worker in Summersville
SUMMERSVILLE (UPI) A blowout killed 42 year old Oak Hill resident Beam of High yesterday while he was changing a tire on heavy coal hauling equipment at Cherry River Coal & Coke Co. in Richwood. The accident occurred near Mt. Nebo Nicholas County. Beam’s death followed his face and chest being struck by the tire and rim during the incident.

Heavy rain since Friday caused minor trouble in the Beckley area with water backing up from storm sewers into yards. Mount Hope Kilsyth Price Hill faced the worst, some residents left homes as a few feet of water threatened entry. One street and upper Mount Hope homes were surrounded. water entered a basement and furnace. State Road Commission logged one small slide at Leevale Rt 3 and water across the highway between Eunice and Whitesville. Street Commissioner D E Warden cited numerous calls about yard flooding but no serious cases. Fire department weather station recorded .87 inch of rain in the 24 hours ending 7 p m Monday.
