Harmon Bill Passed in Senate Parental Responsibility Act

House Bill No. 37 sponsored by Raleigh County Delegate Roy Lee Harmon passed the State Senate after noon. The measure, already approved by the House this session, would bring willful forest fire setting by miners under the parental responsibility act. Gov. Stratton Teacher Fatally Stricken In Classroom

Mrs. Demina Harless a Stratton High School home economics teacher for 22 years died in her classroom during an off period about 11 10 am The death was attributed to a heart condition She became ill sat at her desk and told staff she might need a tranquilizer but collapsed before it could be given Dr A D Belton declared her dead upon arrival No pupils were present Faculty assisted She was a Raleigh County native West Virginia State College graduate and Columbia University holder of a masters in home economics Survivors include her husband Bernard C and her mother Mrs Mary Marshall and a sister Mrs DD Crawford Jr both of nearby addresses

Three Ohio Men Nabbed In Theft

Three Cleveland men Richard Debolt Robert Burgess and William Henry Wilkinson were arrested early today by State Police after their car wrecked at Flat Top. They face petit larceny charges for taking merchandise left in front of Willard's Super Market Beckley. The suspects fled the scene after the crash and were later captured on the highway. Police estimate $200 damage to the 1951 model car and will check if the vehicle was stolen.

Piedmont Lines Pilots To Receive Pay Boost

New York Teen Killed in Brookyln Gang Clash

In a Brooklyn theater district dispute, two teenage gangs clashed after an amusement arcade pinball session. Tony Labanchino aged 17 died, John Lombardi 17 was wounded in the hand, and four youths were arrested on homicide charges. The Sands St Angels and the Mau Maus were named as rival groups.
