They reportedly reached only about 100 miles up instead of 500, did not detach, and sent weak signals while being tracked by Johns Hopkins APL. Transit aims at navigation aids for ships. Man says brother took rap for murder in Texas
Ray Covington a 30 year old father of three and machine shop worker in Torrance told a Long Beach reporter that his brother Mickey Covington took the blame for a Fort Worth pharmacist killing on November 17 1959. Ray said he could not let his brother bear the crime alone and that Mickey cut off his arm in despair after confessing.
