In four hearts, South can reach the contract by an elimination sequence after the diamond lead. Cash hearts, then three clubs, then another heart forces West to a choice. He must lead either a club or a spade, enabling South to discard the jack of spades or ruff in dummy. The result: South makes the contract despite an apparent spade finesse.
