Principals Ill Trials Postponed Over Family Quarrel
Illness of principals in two separate neighborly quarrel cases led to continuances until Tuesday in Magistrate J P Meadows court. Roxie Zofer filed a peace warrant against Mrs Tilda McKinney for threatening to kill. McKinney answered with an assault warrant. They argued over where a coal load should be dumped in their shared yard. Witnesses said both gave different dump locations. McKinney, who is sick with influenza, had previously threatened Zofer. Zofer dumped scalding dishwater on McKinney. The case was described by the magistrate as a family quarrel. In Charleston, the senate considered restoring county officer salaries to 1932 levels as proposed by Senator Paull. Bills included higher petit juror pay, probationary powers for courts under 21, and a foreign-born citizens welfare bureau with a $3,600 director. A tax on free text books and other measures were discussed.
