Courts prepare records for prosecutions of ringleaders of the Jan 24 revolt that left 20 dead and paralyzed Algiers for nine days. Leadership like Joseph Ortiz remains in hiding as warrants for 11 people are issued. TOP civilian and military officials were summoned for talks with Paris cabinet aides. The French Cabinet meets in Paris Wednesday for initial reports.

HONOLULU AP report notes Kilauea volcano erupted Sunday as a 25 day eruption at the eastern foothills continued. White hot steam clouds rose thousands of feet, lava gushed through a crack in Halemaumau pit, causing the floor to crack and cave about 300 feet. Dr Wayne Ault of the Volcano Observatory described lava flowing into the pit’s floor.
Beckley Fire Department answered a 9:50 a.m. alarm at The Methodist Temple after occupants smelled smoke from a burned-out transformer. Firemen returned to the station by 10:10 a.m. No damage was reported.
