Officials of Key Hill Transit applied for PSC approval to run a city terminal to Hilltop bus line on U S Route 19 21 and Secondary Route 19 21. The firm aims for hourly service led by Quentin Hurt with PSC decision set in Charleston on February 14.

Mount Hope officials denied Huber's Pool Room a diy license to operate pool tables at a time when the establishment faced prior beer license revocation in circuit court. The owners, including Harry Huber, were recently fined on gambling charges, prompting appeals to higher courts.
Senator Chapman Revercomb informs Oak Hill Mayor Claude R. Hill that Oak Hill is not chosen as a Veterans Administration office site. The VA says visits from Charleston and Beckley offices suffice for Fayette County veterans needs, ending the Fayette County contact office plan.
Four divorce suits were filed in the Circuit Clerk's office yesterday by attorney W. H. Haynes. Plaintiffs are Sonia Gale Weeks against Hugh S. Weeks Esta R. Rogers against John F. Rogers Pattie Lee Johnson against Geragor Carlton Johnson and James K. McClung against Mary Dick McClung.
Buck Kidd celebrated a birthday with his mother Mrs Raymond Kidd hosting a party for 24 attendees. Games and refreshments were enjoyed by Buck and his 23 guests. The item notes the ohm as a unit of electrical resistance.
Oak Hill school officials dismissed two classes due to freezing temperatures. The third grade at Oak Hill Elementary and sixth grade town students were sent home as temperatures fell to 32 degrees with a nine to 12 degree day. Trooper F E Springer reported no accidents but slick roads, advising motorists not to speed.
Fayette County 4-H Club agent reports the county leads with 49 clubs after forming the McDunn Black Diamond Club. State club leader C H Hartley notes Fayette tops the Blue Ribbon list for 1946, Boone close behind with ten. The Ansted Hiawatha Senior 4-H Club met to discuss soil and tree conservation under the theme Keeping West Virginia Green.
Nine Sam's Union Taxi drivers in Oak Hill reached an agreement after a one day floor dispute. C E Red Duncan, partner, said everyone was satisfied with the settlement as Bunk Toney moved to the day shift and two cars remained unassigned during the day shift. The Oak Hill firm is operated by Sam ae and Duncan.
Oak Hill city council plans to approve building a new sewer system in the East End. Mayor C. B. says the project tops the agenda and will likely be funded by city revenue bonds, with possible federal funds assisting construction.
Oak Hill Robert T. Douglas, local Army recruiting sergeant, reported three Fayette County men enlisted in the regular Army for three years in the ordnance department. Derrell Dan Thomas, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kith Thomas of Victor. William Keith Hunt, 17, son of Mr. and Mrs. Seth W. Hunt of Ansted. Albert Walton Adkins, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Ramsey of Clifftop.
Fayetteville reports a Tuesday clinic sponsored by the Fayette County Tuberculosis Association. Ninety four people received X rays, with 13 physical exams and two tuberculin tests performed. Sputum cups were given to two patients. The event was led by Dr. W P Bittinger with technician Mr. Wright from Charleston and county health nurses assisting. X ray readings will be done by Dr. G E Gwinn and results ready in about ten days.
Funeral services for four year old James Robert Burgess will be held Friday at Fayetteville Baptist Church at 2 p m. The boy of Mr and Mrs L E Burgess Gauley Bridge formerly of Fayetteville died Tuesday at Laird Memorial Hospital Montgomery Dr James F Frame will officiate burial follows in Baws Memorial Park Oak Hill He is survived by his parents and one brother Lawrence Edward Jr
Oak Hill Chamber of Commerce will hold a regular session this afternoon at 3 30 in city hall. President S D Morton says the group will discuss annual dinner plans and appoint a new managing director to succeed Owen Rickard, who currently works in Beckley.
A late night fire at the C. L. Blevins General Store in Allen Junction caused unestimated damage. The blaze started near a flue from an overheated furnace, spreading between floors. Mullens firefighters faced delays due to frozen sirens before gaining control.
Double funeral services are planned at Rockview Church for Okey Leland Walker aged 36 who died from tuberculosis caused by rock dust in a mine, and his mother Aliie Myrtle Walker 68 who died of shock and heart condition. Rev. Dewey Wilson and Rev. E J Hill will officiate with burial in Walker Cemetery. Surviving family includes Cordie Stewart Walker, two children Cash and Ice? Clarice, and several siblings and step-relatives. The bodies will be moved from Robertson-Foglesong Funeral Home to the Rockview home of daughter Mrs. Jay Cook.

W C Bailey Jr and wife deed Lot 65 in the Crowley Worrell Addition to Pineville to W G Mullens and Inez Mullens. A Mullens child suffers a broken arm playing Sunday and is treated at Taylor Dearing Hospital. William Thomas Blakely of Welch pays a $10 fine and costs after a magistrate court trial for improper license plates.
Mrs J Lee Selvey entertained about 50 guests at her South Mullens home this week for a bridal shower honoring Mrs Harry Woods Jr formerly Bernese Ball Co hosts were Mrs Woods Mrs Omer Wood Mrs Jean Miles and Mrs James Roten Cake and punch served during the event.
