West Virginia House Votes on Tax Relief and Employment Plan
Revenue Bills seek tax relief for harness tracks and a study of possible cuts for new industry. A minority resolution sponsored by George Seibert would reallocate 2.5 million from Gov. Barron’s discretionary funds to state agencies. Administration aims to revive an Emergency Employment Program funded by ADC money, replacing the federal program with 1 dollar jobs. The measure, tabled in Finance, mirrors a Senate version. Also, the House amended and passed a county clerk salary bill 95 to 1, and approved road waivers and redevelopment of industrial land despite not being in blighted areas.
