Rumor of Underground Water Tank at Stephen's Lake Debunked

Beckley editors debunk a circulating claim that an underground water storage tank at Stephen's Lake dam would supply the area toward Bolt. Engineer Robert L. Davis explains original 60,000 gallon storage plan was scrapped in favor of seven wells, due to feasibility and pumping needs. A true eight inch pipe at the dam base exists for future development, and grouting by Mott Core Drilling is routine work subcontracted through Hatfield Construction. Rumors persist but are not supported by facts, especially with federal funding involved.
