Margaret Louise Thorne twelve year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Lawrence Thorne of 216 Hull Street won first place in the state judging of the National Tuberculosis Christmas Poster Contest. Her drawing shows an angel hovering over the world holding the cross symbol with the caption Help Protect The World From Tb. Her poster advances to New York for national judging the week of January nine. The NTA will mail certificates to national winners January thirteenth. Earlier she earned second place for decorating classroom notebooks with Christmas seals.

340 Traffic Deaths Predicted for New Year Rush

Grateful Priest Leaves $90,000 To Uncle Sam
Monsignor Michael J. Macken, an Irish-born priest who served at St. Clara's Church in Clarendon, Pa. for nearly 30 years, died Feb. 9 1958 at 82. His will names the federal government as the principal heir, amounting to about $90,000.

Dead Woman Leads To Forger's Arrest
Wheeling Ohio Valley police arrested 42 year old Wood row L. Wilson on forgery charges after a deceased woman was linked to the case. He allegedly stole a Social Security check from an elderly resident in October and forged the endorsement on the cashed check. Wilson admitted guilt in a signed statement.

Lost And Found: Car Reported Stolen Then Recovered
An excited woman driver told Beckley Police her car had been stolen from in front of Wooddell's Jewelry on Main Street. Patrolman Burdiss noted she had the keys and had just parked there, then returned to find the vehicle missing. It was later found parked on Main Street in front of the E. M. Payne store, one block away from the original location.
