Oak Hill moves toward a city manager form as the final draft is completed and will be mailed to the attorney general within a week. The Charter Commission met with citizens last night with no changes and plans to present the charter in a March election. If approved, councilmen would take office July 1. Mayor C. R. Rites For Purple Heart Yet To Be Held Tomorrow
Funeral services for Jack Dempsey Cook will be held tomorrow at 1 p.m. at Robertson-Fogle song Funeral Home Chapel. The World War II veteran and bus driver died Tuesday at Veterans Hospital Huntington after a long illness. He served in the 26th Infantry division, participated in Normandy and the French campaign, and earned the Purple Heart among other medals. He is survived by his wife Virginia Johnson Cook, daughter Norma Jean, his mother Mrs Elizabeth Cook, a brother and two sisters.

An informal reception at the Methodist Church followed the Ansted Health Club’s final health clinic. Miss Alberta Morgan, resigning county health nurse, attended her last visit as children received diphtheria and smallpox immunizations. Attending members included Mrs. Ralph Nuckols and others.
Plans for Fayette County Children's Home Abandoned
The executive committee said plans for a Fayette County Children's Home are dropped due to little public interest. About $2,000 of a $10,000 goal was raised and will be refunded to donors. A building in Oak Hill was sought for the home.
