Miner Injured in Carlisle Mine Accident
Joe Fredonia, a 58 year old Carlisle Polish miner, sustained severe injuries in the Oakwood mines at Carlisle yesterday after being caught between a coal face and a mine cart. He was taken by Tyree & Dow ambulance to Oak Hill hospital where doctors found broken hips and a fractured pelvis. his condition described as very serious.

Freight Rate Study Looms In Interstate Commerce Body
The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered a fresh study of freight rate surcharges to decide if the increases authorized last year should continue. Carriers will present evidence December 28 and filing of position statements is due January 15. The inquiry stems from a petition by the American Railway Association asking extension of surcharges, which would expire March 31, 1933 if not renewed. The plan calls for ending the pooling arrangement and allowing railroads to keep the increased funds. currently the Railroad Credit Corporation collects and lends the money to railroads to cover fixed charges.
