Mail Truck Service to Replace Fanny on Sunday
The Beckley Post Office awarded Hurley D. Thompson a contract to haul mail from Prince to Beckley starting Sunday, replacing Chesapeake and Ohio's Fanny. Thompson will use three trucks for first class mail and parcel post, with daily routes from Beckley to Prince and back and additional pickups from Washington and Cincinnati trains. A second contract to Roland Davis covers the Beckley to Surveyor, Crab Orchard, Glen White, and Lester section, with schedules through Beckley. Other route changes affect service from Prince to Beckley and between Mabscott and Beckley, expanding the Beckley office’s reach to about 80 post offices.
