Beckley officials consider a four story ramp type parking garage by architect Osterblum to hold up to 730 cars. He says cost around 800 per car, with preliminary estimate near 630 990 and a staff of seven to run the operation. The plan could be scaled to 500 car and smaller sites if accepted.

POW Payment Forms Prepared for Veterans in West Virginia
West Virginia Department of Veterans Affairs will handle applications for special subsistence payments to veterans and others held as prisoners of war. Deputy Roy Smith announced that forms will be available between December 15 and January in the state. The law grants $1 per day for each day of captivity and inadequate feeding by Japanese or German captors.

Snow and Rain Flood Highways Across Raleigh County Roads
Melting snow and four days of rain yesterday caused water to run over Raleigh County routes in a few places but there were no serious consequences. County road supervisor George Gadd said water was just across the roads and not deep enough to halt traffic. He noted this near Sophia and Eccles. No washouts occurred, though a small slide on Route 41 between Beckley and Prince caused one way traffic for a short time yesterday morning.

Centennial Committee To Meet Next Tuesday
Invitations have been mailed to 120 Raleigh County residents chosen to serve on the Raleigh County Centennial Committee. They will select a 20 man executive committee at a 7:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday in Room 18 of the Memorial Building on South Kanawha Street. Arthur Cundy said delegates should notify him if they plan to attend as the group organizes the 1950 county centennial celebration.
