Sabine Grade School Officially Closed by Board

Sabine Grade School will remain closed after the Wyoming County Board of Education sided with enrollment decline. Superintendent James Pizzino said 45 students have been absorbed into Glen Fork and John McGraw grade schools with staff reassigned and equipment moved. Parents initially protested bus transport to other schools.

Funeral services for Essie May Albert 75 of Sprague will be held 2 pm Wednesday at Sprague Freewill Baptist Church with Revs Jim Stanley Otis Clyburn and W R Gouldin. Burial at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Albert died Sunday at a local hospital after a long illness. Also today at Rose and Quesenberry Funeral Home funeral arrangements are incomplete for Claude Hall of Harper Heights who died Monday in a Fayette County nursing home. Engineers Say 23 Mine Dams Severe Hazards
