Ansted Fire Destroys Post Office and Truck Blaze
Fire Chief H F Webb reports an early morning blaze in Ansted destroyed the post office and Eunice drug store loading area with about 15 workers aiding. A Keystone gas transport truck burned, sealing the post office and store room, with minor damage to the city hall and Mill Creek Collieries store. The fire started when fuel overflow ignited in the sewer near Mill Creek bridge and raged for about three hours, halting power and telephone lines. Damage estimates place the truck at around 4000 dollars and the drug store room at 3500 dollars. Temporary city hall headquarters were set up as repairs began.
