Elder Rufus Bailey Dies After Long Illness at 82

Rufus Bailey born October 12 1881 in Abanda Alabama died at 11 p m Tuesday in a local hospital after a long illness. He was World War I veteran and New Jerusalem Church Lester member. Survivors include wife Peggy, four sons Charles McGill James Bailey Cecil McGill Isaiah Carey Bailey three daughters Essie King Maggie Grooms Rosalee Fiyai eight grandchildren. Hancock County voters defeat a $7.5 million school bond by a 4 to 1 margin on Tuesday, with 8,157 against and 1,876 for funds to build a new Weirton High School.
