A suspected thief, Mike Federoff formerly of Eccles, was jailed in Raleigh County on petty larceny and drunkenness charges after allegedly stealing $5 from a Harper Road filling station. Witnesses say he and another hitchhiker demanded money from clerk Walter Canterbury, who pursued the suspects and recovered the cash. The incident followed a car service at the Pallomropiy Service Station. The report also notes ongoing Senate inquiries into regional fuel shortages led by Senator Tobey with industry input expected.
City police report Canterbury youths were detained at gunpoint until officers reached the scene. The second youth was released prior to a petty larceny charge being filed and has not been retaken. Patton station was robbed last Wednesday night of 81 dollars. investigators probe the theft.
