Beckley Postmaster A Fray Lilly notes mail receipts and volume rose this year but the gain is not as big as it seems. Last year’s counting period fell due to President Kennedy’s death, so the current rise would occur even in normal times. Over four weeks, receipts reached 36087 with about 2207000 pieces of mail, up from 34253 and 2015000 year prior. Robert C Frost Jr of Glen View was jailed at 9 am for driving without a state operator’s fire.
