Dad Smith Waives On Murder Charge
C I Dad Smith 77 of Mabscott waived a preliminary hearing on a murder charge and was held to the January Grand Jury by Magistrate T N Thurman. He is charged with the fatal shotgun shooting of Harlow McKinney 45 of Beckley in Mabscott. McKinney was found in Smiths shack Saturday night and later transported by State Police. Witness Fred M Hatfield was fined five dollars and 30 days in jail on a drunk charge after giving conflicting statements about the shooting.

Japanese Wife Kills Gf Husband in Tokyo Bedroom
Hatsue Tanaka Jernigan, 21, a Japanese woman, confessed to killing her American soldier husband, Cpl. Walter C. Children poking through a trash dump on Batoff Mountain Sunday found an abandoned safe containing about 692 in scrip and 900 in defense bonds. The safe, punched open, belonged to the Truax-Tract company store at Marfork near Whitesville. About 800 in cash was missing from the safe stolen Friday night. Cpl. H. D.
