Thai police arrest Lt Somchai in Cathay Pacific bombing

Thai police Lt Somchai Chaiyasuta was arrested and charged with placing a bomb on a Cathay Pacific Airliner that exploded over South Vietnam killing 81 aboard last June 15. He allegedly used a gift wrapped package aimed at his fiancée and child to ensure the doomed flight.

UPI reports U.S. District Judge Kenneth K. Hall sentenced 26 year old Ralph Edward Carpenter of Rosemont Taylor County to two years for draft evasion. Carpenter had pleaded guilty and was given 10 days to appeal. an alternative sentence to serve at Davis Memorial Hospital was rejected.

Cadillacs Face Steering Flaw Charge by Auto Safety Group

The Center for Auto Safety accuses General Motors of concealing a pitman arm steering flaw in about 100,000 Cadillacs built in 1959 and 1960. The flaw allegedly caused crashes and at least two deaths, while GM says there were 43 pitman arm failures with two accidents and no injuries.
