About 1,000 people attended Fayette County Fair events in Oak Hill on Thursday as Helen Fitzwater, 23, Falls View, was crowned queen. Phyllis Crane and Carol Sue Cole finished second and third. The parade opened the fair with winning floats by Beta Sigma Phi chapters and the Oak Hill City Council. Several horticulture winners were named in arrangements and plant divisions, with 4-H groups and girl and Boy Scout units earning top honors in local contests.

Funeral services for William Henry Price, 47, of Jodie Fayette County, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Jodie Baptist Church with Rev. Phil Manning and Rev. Hannon Gray officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Cemetery Belva. Survived by wife Nellie four sons two brothers three sisters and two grandchildren. Body to be moved from Combs Brothers mortuary Gauley Bridge to the home this evening and to the church one hour before services.
