Recruiters Send It To Fort Hayes
Eleven Fayette County youths from Oak Hill enlist at the Oak Hill recruiting station and travel to Fort Hayes in Columbus for physical examinations and Army swearing in. The group includes veterans and new recruits from Fayette, Minden, Scarbro, Whipple, and Oak Hill, with service in Army Air Forces and Infantry, many headed for Pacific theater. Two Temporaries Assist VA In Terminal Leave Pay Forms
The Department of Veterans Affairs has temporarily hired two workers to aid in filing terminal leave pay applications. Mrs Fayanna Windle of Crab Orchard and Hubert Dragon of Sprague will assist until most applications are processed. About 100 enlisted men have filed for terminal leave pay.

Veterans Receive Higher Benefits Across Veterans Affairs Increases

Fire Victim To Be Buried Friday
Funeral services for Basil Dillon a 29 year old miner whose burned body was found in a trailer at Hilton Village near Peterstown will be conducted by his brother Oppie Dillon with Rev L D Candler officiating. Interment will follow in Peterstown Cemetery. A verdict of accidental death was returned by Magistrate J T Kincaid acting as ex officio coroner after an inquest to check possible foul play. He is survived by his mother Mrs Carlos Dillon a sister Mrs Ruth Dunn and brother Oppie Dillon all of Peterstown.

Back From Norris Dam Pineville
Fred L. Huffman and Wayne Carnahan returned from Norris Dam Tennessee after several days of fishing. Mrs. Huffman slipped on a scatter rug on a waxed floor Friday night suffering a compound fracture in her left arm above the wrist and was taken to Stevens Clinic Welch where she remained until Sunday. The incident inconveniences her as she is left handed.

H N Crist of Gilyandotte Avenue was arrested by state and county officers after Mrs Georgie Crist reported their child missing. Crist, previously convicted March felonious assault, was found guilty and sentenced to one to five years, probation then extended to three years after his wife filed drunkenness charges.
