Beckley Junk Car Disposal Model Spurs State ARC Plan
Beckley Mayor McCulloch and Street Commissioner Elmer Warden unveil a junk car disposal program using Karl's Auto Wreckers in Beckley. The project, backed by a $750,000 ARC grant, will pilot statewide cleanup with private firms removing 300 to 400 abandoned vehicles for recycling into metal products. Kirkpatrick of Karl's said the operation uses two airlift fork trucks and a high pressure crusher to reduce cars for central processing.
