Wyoming School Board consolidates ten rural schools
The Wyoming County Board of Education consolidates ten one and two room schools effective August 29, 1960. Most small schools with 5 to 25 students combine into larger campuses such as Pineville and Road Branch. Transfers affect students from Adkins, Aldridge Fork, Barker's Ridge, Campus, Cook, Geneva Archibald, Jesse, Otsego, Soulsville, Wolf Pen and other nearby facilities to destinations like Oceana, Pineville, Mullens and Fairview.
