Highways openings and detours in West Virginia announced
The West Virginia state road commission announced the opening of two highways to traffic in the southern part of the state and suggested detours on three other routes. Route 8 between Roderfield and Jaeger remains partially closed for ten miles during stone-surface work, with detours between Mohawk and Horsepen. Route 34 between Hurricane and Mt. Vernon may be opened as grading progresses. A detour on Route 8 north between Jaeger and Horsepen uses a county highway. Detours also advised for US Route 50 between Red House, Maryland, and Romney in Hampshire county, and for the Ripley route retreading toward the Ohio river, where delays exceed 30 minutes and tar and limestone chips are applied.
