Mercer County Hopkinses Claim Share in Fortune

Robert Lee Hopkins a farmer living at Lerona on the Mercer Summers line claims to be a grand nephew of Mark Hopkins the forty niner who went west during the gold rush and amassed a fortune variously estimated from 350,000,000 to 450,000,000. He cites kinship through Reuben and Jonathan Hopkins as part of the California wealth dispute now in court. Other relatives including John H. Parker of Crab Orchard and Timothy Hopkins are named in the sprawling claims, with reports tying Timothy to Hoover era financier circles and suggesting many court battles over the estate.
