Bond creator Fleming dislikes his own hero
Ian Fleming, 53, says Bond is a competent professional not a hero. He notes teenagers idolize the character, while Fleming says he writes scrapes and wisecracks for Bond as the mind creates him. Fleming doubts many secret agents match Bond in glamour and appeal. The author describes himself as thinking up Bond incidents while walking. He also faced a recent attack in Today magazine calling Bond “nastiest drivel.”
