Ten-Child Family Finds Joy and Sock-Sorting Woes
In Chattanooga, Mrs. St. John Park and her husband Gay raise ten children, six boys and four girls aged 2 to 15. Seven attend school, prompting a routine of making giant lunches from a single loaf and assembling sandwiches from ends. They report light medical bills, occasional runny noses, and four tonsillectomies. Entertainment includes lake swimming at Lake Chickamauga and 50 cent car-loads to drive-in movies. The Parks live in a seven room house with plans to add on as another child is on the way, and a self-organized babysitting system keeps the brood in order.
