Smith Funeral Set For Tuesday
Melbin Smith an 18 year old Thayer youth was killed yesterday when struck by a Chesapeake and Ohio train near his home. Funeral services will be held at the residence at Thayer at 2 o'clock conducted by Reverend C. S. Donnelly. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows cemetery at Oak Hill. Tyree and Dew are in charge of arrangements. Smith is survived by his mother Mrs Nancy Smith and siblings Maynard Rex Max Marx Smith. Margaret Reece Mabel Tingler Myrtle Burgess Mary Henshaw Geneva Smith. His father Franklin Smith died in July in an automobile wreck involving James W. Stark.

Four Injured In Auto Accidents In Mount Hope
Two separate collisions yesterday near Mount Hope left four people injured and led to a drunk driving arrest and a similar warrant. Harry Burgess of Harvey Fayette county jailed for driving while intoxicated after his Chevrolet hit E M Huffman of Beckley at Main and Creek streets. Huffman suffered severe lacerations to his right hand. Troopers McLaughlin and Callaghan investigated the crashes.

William Wash Patrick, a 39 year old Russian miner, reportedly killed himself near Winding Gulf on Saturday.
