Landy denies miracle mile with foot cut claim
Australian miler John Landy says reports of running the Miracle Mile at the British Empire Games with a four stitch cut are completely and utterly silly. Dr Ken Young notes a nasty gash was doctored on Landy’s foot while Bannister and editors dispute the claim. Bannister won the race in 3 58.8 with Landy second in 3 59.6 amid denial of the alibi.
