Raleigh County sends 26 delegates and 26 alternates to Charleston for the Democratic State Convention at the Civic Center. More than 1,200 supporters will meet at 10 a.m. to draft a blueprint for building a better West Virginia. Hulett C. Smith says the party will present a clear platform and speeches, with W. W. Barron and John M. Slack Jr. among speakers. A platform hearing starts Thursday in the Senate Chamber and credentials meet in the Senate caucus room. Frances McGovern and Governor David L. Lawrence will address a women’s luncheon and banquet Friday.
