About 450 people attended a two day Raleigh Baptist Association convention at Crab Orchard Baptist Church July 29 30 The 86th conference featured the first communion service in the program's 86 year history Rev Shirley Donnelly was elected moderator for the coming year Also elected were E E Bibb Sr vice moderator Rev C E Walker clerk Norman Harless on the executive board of the State Baptist Convention and Rev Sidney Rowland president of the Raleigh Baptist Sunday School Council The association voted to hold next years convention at Crab Orchard Baptist Church marking the first time it will be staged at the same church for two consecutive years

Rites Set for Mrs. Joan Hambrick Saturday
Funeral services for Mrs. Joan na Hambrick, 75, of Beaver and Danville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Beaver Baptist Church with Rev. E. W. Powers officiating. Burial follows at Eagle Rock Cemetery. She died Wednesday at her daughter’s White Mill residence after living in Beaver and assed two and a half years in White Mill. She was a seamstress for Beckley Hardware Co. and a member of Beaver Baptist Church and Ladies Aid Society. Survivors include her daughter, a sister, and five grandchildren.

County 4-H Projects to Be Displayed at State Fair
Raleigh County 4-H projects will be shown at the State Fair in Lewisburg from August 18 to 23 in the 4-H Halls at the fairgrounds. County Blue Ribbon winners, over 600, will be featured. last year 33 entries earned 22 state blue ribbons. County agent Clarence Wooten hopes more projects will be judged this year.
