Plans For New Motel Stalled On West Virginia Turnpike
A second attempt to build a motel on the West Virginia Turnpike near the Glass House faces regulatory questions. The state Attorney General says access may be allowed by the Turnpike Commission, but inclusion in the Interstate system may complicate the ruling. B I Gentry, Charleston, leasing 20 acres from John Shumate, seeks to know if the motel is feasible. Lee M. Kenna says he is querying Interstate authorities while noting the road already exists. A 1961 bid by George King and Garland Wilkinson for a 100-unit motel hinged on access rights, a question unsettled as plans remain incomplete pending Interstate approval.
