Beckley Assessor Says Hogs Plentiful Outside City Limits
Beckley assessor George Blair says there are no more than a dozen hogs inside city limits, but a blue million just outside. He notes none are assessed as eight months old hogs are not taxable until January, with most hogs found in Fast Park area and a few near New Raleigh road and Valley drive. Police served notices to prevent hog pens within the city after complaints from near Beckley hospital and Kessinger street, with one owner facing eviction or slaughter to comply with the hog ordinance.
