Sparkplug Grounds Plane at Memorial Airport
A Piedmont Airlines plane bound for Norfolk from Cincinnati was grounded by a faulty sparkplug this morning at Memorial Airport. Airlines Manager Douglas Gunn said the 10:21 a.m. departure was canceled and a replacement plane was sent from Winston-Salem for the Cincinnati to Norfolk run. Ex-Beckleyan Wilbur Laducer Jailed For Non-Support Charge
Wilbur Laducer, a Cleveland resident and former Beckleyan, was jailed today after a hearing before Magistrate J. P. Medows for defaulting on a 12 month non-support bond. He was ordered to pay transportation costs for himself and Constable C. A. White totaling $111. Laducer was found guilty of failing to support his wife and children whom he left in Beckley.

Stanley Alberchinski, 35, formerly of Oak Hill, died in Santa Monica after a heart attack during a county league baseball game. Five persons were killed when lightning struck a crude oil tank near Kilgore Texas.
