Kindergarten Gas Fumes Panic At Buffalo Creek School

A Buffalo Creek kindergarten teacher alerted 20 pupils and a staffer after all fell sick from gas fumes, later identified as possible carbon monoxide. First aid teams treated the group. four children were hospitalized briefly but discharged. A contractor suggested a faulty thermostat may have triggered exhaust fumes entering the room.

Slie Given 2nd Life Sentence

Kent Slie aged 25 received a second life term without parole from Lincoln Circuit Court after conviction for kidnapping David Mullins 14 and Guy Plumley 13 in Hamlin area. Jury did not recommend mercy. He had a prior life sentence in December for the murder of Danny Collins 13 of Dunbar.

Two Girls Shaved and Feathered in IRA Revenge Attacks

Belfast gunmen staged a second revenge act in two days as two 18 year old Catholic women engaged to British soldiers were shaved and doused with yellow paint and feathers after being forced into a truck in Belfast. A man was found dead after a car incident linked to the violence while a held soldier was later found with a boobytrap at Newton Hamilton defused.

In Charleston a suit alleges that an 18 percent annual interest rate violates state usury law. Huddleston tied to murder plot via confession in bail hearing

Annette Gilly, Huddleston’s daughter, questioned earlier this month. Mrs Gilly’s 22 page confession read at her father’s bail hearing. The statement alleges Huddleston hired his son in law Paul Gilly to organize the murder after meetings with UMW officials Albert Pass and William Prater. Gilly named other top UMW figures including Tony Boyle. In Pittsburgh, Prater pleaded innocent to federal charges and a detainer for murder sits on him in Allegheny County jail on 200000 dollars bail. D.A. Jess D. Costa says murder charges will be filed next week.

Funeral Services Held for Nora Sarrett at Arnett

Funeral services for Mrs. Nora Sarrett 92 of Arnett will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Arnett Chapel with Rev. Garten and Rev. Wade Webb officiating. Burial follows in the family cemetery. She died Wednesday at Beckley hospital after a long illness. Young Transferred After 92 Days In 1

Danny Young, 27, of Rhodell, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in January and was sentenced to one to five years. He was taken to Huttonsville State Prison 92 days after sentencing after spending time in Raleigh County jail and a brief stay at Huntington State Hospital.

Vest Enters Guilty To Drug Charges

Robert Vest twenty of Mabscott pleaded guilty in Raleigh County Criminal Court to delivering and possessing with intent to manufacture and deliver mescaline. Vest was arrested with six others by Beckley police on February fourteenth during a two day drug sweep. Judgment set for May twelfth at 10 a m. He remains on bond pending.
