Vaccine Delivery To All Counties Scheduled Today
West Virginia health officials expected to distribute the Salk polio vaccine to all 55 counties today though the total supply is short of initial expectations. An initial 106,100 cubic centimeters will inoculate about 106,100 first and second graders out of roughly 125,000 eligible children. Health Director N H Dyer cited a 90 percent consent assumption and a shipment error that delivered 84 percent of full eligibility. 6,880 ccs will be shipped by tomorrow to cover the shortfall. By last night over 25 counties had received vaccine, with districts in the Eastern Panhandle and other counties already supplied.
