Funeral services for Charles Corter Simmons will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Oak Hill conducted by Rev. Howard Stevens Marmet. Simmons died Monday at 4 30 p.m. in an Ohio hospital after an extended illness. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery Oak Hill. The body will remain at the funeral home.

In Pineville Wyoming County a two year old boy, Roger Wayne Diggs, was found floating in Laurel Creek by a passing motorist. Rescue crews could not revive him. The child apparently fell into the creek while playing as his father, Earl Roger Diggs, helped a neighbor with yard work. the mother did not alarm until the boy’s long absence.
