Judge James Strother Dies From Bullet Wound
Judge James Alexander Strother longtime McDowell county official dies from a self-inflicted gunshot. He served in the West Virginia House of Delegates in 1907 1909 1911 and 1921 1923 and in the state senate 1913 1914. A Welch native born January 13 1870 he also led Welch city government as mayor 1897 to 1907. Funeral services set for Culpeper Virginia with interment in the Masonic cemetery.
