A Morantprate register reports a coroner's jury concluded Jimmie Haynes, 33, of Smithers, died accidentally by drowning after being found lodged in the screen at London Locks on the Kanawha River near Montgomery. The verdict followed the coroner's inquiry held today with findings read at noon.
In Mount Hope Private Fred D Armstrong son of Mrs Lacy Armstrong of Route 1 Mount Hope has finished basic training and is now assigned to securational troops. The 17 year old also received anti aircraft artillery training on 10 mm automatic Elis and observed his 17th birthday on November 3.
Haynes who had been missing since January 30 was discovered by painter Hurston Webb while working on the Marmet lock. Magistrate Montgomery Hane bcoek acted as coroner under prosecutor Carl B. Vickers. Haynes married Helen Cooper of Smithers and is survived by his wife and two children. son of Mr and Mrs R L Haynes formerly of Fayetteville.
Funeral services were held at 2 30 pm for Mrs. Rebecca Jane Williams 94 who died Tuesday morning at her daughter Rose Lafferty home Willis Branch of heart ailment. Rev J B Williams of Pax officiated at Citts ville Methodist Church burial in Humphrey Cemetery. She was a Sand Branch Baptist member a Maynor resident born Loop Creek now Ingram Branch March 27 1892. Survived by sister Laura Arthur four brothers Rufus Tommy Lula Bafferty other children Rufus Mabscott Tommy Cranberry Lula Mount Hope Rose Lafferty Ida Humphrey thirty five grandchildren forty two great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Pallbearers Fred Williams Warman Williams Cecil Williams James Lafferty Rufus Rogers Russell Humphrey.
