Railroad Case Ends in Damages Award for Griffin
Ottawa special reports a Burlington and Quincy train incident at Meridan where Albert Griffin was ejected for lacking a ticket to Earlville. Griffin claimed possession of a Mendota purchase but surrendered it to the conductor. He returned, offered 50 cents for a 15 cent fare, and was ejected again amid insults. The jury awarded Griffin 1,500 dollars, with a fee and for a new trial motions noted.
