The closing days of the campaign promise lively events with a string of demonstrations starting Friday evening November 1. Charles Metzner will speak in German, followed by a torch light parade on Saturday November 2. A mass meeting is planned for Monday November 4 at the Court House, with a nationwide Grand Possum Hunt advertised for Tax day Friday.
The Hon Chas J Metzner of Aurora will address a Quincy meeting tonight at the corner of Eighth and Washington streets. Metzner is noted as an entertaining speaker of the current campaign who delivers speeches in German and English, weather permitting.
Preparations for the Grand Tanners Parade and Torch-Light procession are nearly complete. The order of march published this morning shows a magnificent display. Every Republican in Quincy will stand ready to participate in this final campaign demonstration.
Gen Jiexperson spoke to a large crowd in Louisiana Missouri on Wednesday night. The event drew residents and officials as he outlined planned actions and priorities for the region.
Missouri records show tax registrations in 96 counties totaling 286277, up 107994 since 1870. Reports note horse disease cases in Chicago, with the crisis spreading to New York while rural areas fare still affected by its advance.

New York judge grants injunction for George B Scott to stop Chicago and Northwestern from issuing stock without authorization by two thirds of capital stock holders. Milwaukee missionary group reelects officers as American Missionary Association meets with speakers Rev Dr McGowan John Farwell and Rev H A Stimson.
The Vermont Legislature elected state officers today in Montpelier including Secretary of State George Nichola Auditor W G Ferrin Quarter Master Gen W W Lynde Adjutant and Inspector Gen James Peck Judge Advocate Gen 8 M Southard Commissioner M B Heid and prison directors J W Harts horn and W P Speed.
An Andersonville letter reports 6000 people gathered Oct 25 to witness Martin Boylard's execution for murdering Silas Weston and his three children. He escaped last night in his wife's clothes. Prisoners Escaped in Providence as well.
In Ohio a man named Wm B Ritcheson is jailed after shooting neighbor Wm Fogwell with a double barrel gun one mile north of Frost's Station Greene county. Fogwell will likely die from his wounds. Both men are young neighboring farmers.
New York reports a slight abatement in equine disease with improving stock in stables and more horses on streets. Crises pass, but mortality remains high in Brooklyn. Bergh plans to halt Bleeker Street cars. Chicago disinfects stables. multiple cities report cases, deaths, and public travel disruption amid a broad spread. The report also covers the St Louis fair sewing machine displays and related industrial exhibits.
The steamship Missouri burned at sea, 1250 tons, valued $200000, cargo $250000, insured for $100000. Survivors report fire discovered in locker pantry area, alarms, and rapid boat launches. Rescue reached Hopetown on Elbo Key by Oct 23 after distress near breakfast time and later fire alarms.
General review notes a display by Isidor Bush & Co at the corner of Maine and Walnut Streets in St. Louis. The exhibit features wines of their own manufacture along with grapes apples and pears, occupying 30 feet. They won first premium for best collection of pears and the Southern Hotel premium for best 10 pounds of grapes. They also took first premiums at Arkansas Georgia and Kansas City fairs.
Desirable city lots in a new addition are offered for sale with attractive terms. The ground level and healthy air, plus a horse railway route to the business district, promise easy access and a strong view. Prices allow twenty percent cash and twenty percent installments for four years with six percent interest. building terms up to ten years at eight percent may be arranged. The undersigned, E. K. Ipone, will display plots daily in November at the ground and Furlong house. Quincy, November 1, 1872.
Notice is given that as trustee under a 1870 deed of trust recording six hundred twenty six point nine acres in Marion Missouri, Timothy Rogers as note holder will advertise for sale on December 2, 1872 at 2 PM at the courthouse in Quincy Illinois for cash to satisfy two thousand dollars plus interest under the note. A deed will transfer title to the purchaser.
