Washington May 25 Orders for three to five ton motor trucks have been placed with fifteen automobile manufacturers. This adds to 15,000 similar trucks already being delivered. Each truck will cost 567 dollars. Winnipeg civic employees ended a sympathy strike after about 5,000 workers joined in. The city council reached a formal agreement which the strikers committee approved, and workers were expected to return to their jobs within hours.
MADRID May 25 It is officially announced that the German submarine No. 65 entered the port of Santander at o'clock Friday morning.
President Wilson postponed a final decision on asking Congress to start work immediately on new revenue legislation. Secretary McAdoo urged immediate action while leaders of Congress had given up on July adjournment. A decision may come today or next week after further data and talks with Senator Simmons.
British armed troopship Moldavia carrying American troops torpedoed and sunk with 56 missing. Cork steamer Inniscarra also sunk, 37 crew missing. US ship Wakiva, a converted yacht, sunk in European waters after May 22 collision. American steamer William Rockefeller torpedoed in British waters. crew served in naval reserve.
Steel ships completed thus far in May exceed the output of any previous month in the history of the shipping board. Up to May 23 and 29, totals reached 29 vessels of 174,661 tons, with four steel steamships totaling 28,200 tons delivered on Thursday.
Edwardsville HL May 25 The March term of the circuit court ended with eight men chosen for jury service from 637 salesmen examined for the Ll men charged with lynching Robert Paul Prager at Collinsville April 5. Trial will resume at the May term starting Monday as Judge Bernreuter praises the eight jurors and reproves veniremen who disqualified themselves to avoid service.
Washington May 25 Members of the joint American Canadian Fisheries commission after hearings on the Atlantic and Pacific coasts have found themselves in substantial agreement on all questions with only details of operations left to settle.
Secretary Baker sent a bill draft to Congress to raise the voluntary enlistment age from 40 to 30. He argues older men over 40 can fill noncombatant staff roles and free younger troops for front line duty, with an estimated 7.5 million men aged 40 to 55 potentially available.
Washington May 25 The Red Cross war fund passed 86 689 000 toward a 100 000 000 goal as nationwide subscriptions surged amid indignation over the German hospital bombing. Greater New York pledged 23 392 723 toward 25 000 000. Western cities exceeded quotas with St Paul Spokane Portland Tacoma Kansas City contributing well over targets. Rockefeller foundation led donors with 3 000 000.
London May 25 The War Office reports the long spell of fine weather ended at 11 AM Thursday after reconnaissances and eight tons of bombs dropped on enemy airfields near Tournai. Three enemy night flyers were shot down, two more disabled, and three of our planes are missing.
Secretary of War Baker announced at a New York Italy day event that American infantry machine gun units and artillery would soon fight alongside Italian forces on the Italian front. He said an American flag would be placed in the hands of flag bearers for the first U S contingent leaving to join the Italian army.

London May 25 The war office says a German raid occurred Thursday night near Bucqoy southwest of Arras under heavy artillery cover. A few British and French patrols recovered several prisoners while a number of their own men are reported missing.
The Cork steamer Inniscarra bound from Fishguard to Cork was torpedoed and sank amidships. Thirty seven crewmen are missing and presumed lost. Five survivors include the captain, chief officer, one steward, and two sailors. Built in 1903, 1412 tons, owned by City of Cork Steam Packet Co. The ship had operated the Cork to Fishguard run since the war began.
In Peoria Illinois on May 25 the defense in Edgar A Strause’s murder case against Berne M Mead expects to rest after a few minor witnesses. Revolver expert W B Northcott of Lagrange testified the nickel plated gun’s bullet would not have embedded in the wall as described, and he admitted his test gun differed from the weapon in question.
SAN JUAN DEL SUR Nicaragua May 25 The Costa Rican government has declared war on the central powers. The move brings the number of nations aligned against Germany to 21. Nicaragua and Guatemala have become belligerent. Honduras severed relations with Germany while El Salvador remains neutral in a stance friendly to the United States.
Washington May 25 The nominations of Major General Peyton C. March as chief of staff of the army with the rank of general and Major General Tasker H. Bliss as general by brevet were confirmed Friday by the Senate.
London May 25 The armed merchant cruiser Moldavia torpedoed and sunk with American troops aboard. Admiralty reports 56 American soldiers unaccounted for, feared killed in a single compartment. The vessel struck below the bridge on a moonlit night. crew none casualties, survivors evacuated.
