Mr Pater of the Iowa State Register and Republican nominee for Congress from the Sun District says the report that Senator Grimes would vote for Andrew Johnson’s acquittal is unfounded. Gen Canby delays the South Carolina legislature meeting set for the 12th until Congress approves the new Constitution.
