Rail wreck injures dozens near Peoria, no deaths reported
A westward bound train on the Fuled Peoria and Warsaw Railroad derailed about nine miles south of Peoria. Two coaches and a sleeping car fell into a ditch, injuring thirty to forty passengers, with only a few severely hurt. The engine and baggage car stayed on track. All wounded were taken to safety in town. Horatio Seymour rode in the sleeping car but escaped with light scratches.
