Abandonment Cases In The County Court
Ben McQueen told Judge Fred Wolfe he would return to his wife and was found guilty of child abandonment. He will pay $8 weekly for the wife and child. McQueen said his wife deserted him, while she says he cursed her and drove her from home. He was arrested near Marblehead. The couple have one child. Herman Hagerbaumer, before Judge Wolfe, given three days to pay $94.50 in arrears for two children in Woodland Home, says illness prevented payment. Mrs. Louvina Steel, 70, pled guilty to stealing supplies from the Soldiers and Sailors’ Home, fined $25 and costs after presenting a $200 check. Mrs. Steel’s case shows she is not in straightened circumstances. Mrs. Della Mathews, charged with petty larceny, received a continuance until June 25. She was released on her own recognizance.
