Macauley to Become President of Packard

Alvan Macauley, Packard vice president and general manager, will be named president by the board at President Henry B. Joy’s request. Macauley, 44, now leads 12,0400 workers and a $30,000,000 asset base, while Joy remains chairman and guiding force. Joy, a Detroit booster, helped move Packard from Warren, Ohio, in 1899 and shapes US auto industry policy. Macauley’s career spans National Cash Register, Burroughs, and Packard, with a noted loyalty pledge for patriotic citizenship. He emphasizes Americanization in promotions, a policy later echoed nationwide.
