Rehearing Denied in Macomb Antisuffrage Case
Springfield Ill June 17 The supreme court denied a rehearing in the Macomb anti suffrage case. The court had ruled Dean Franklin elected city judge of Macomb Til and Miss Josie Westfall received the most votes counting women. Franklin had the most male votes and the court held women could not vote legally for city judge in Illinois. Miss Westfall was matron of an orphan asylum before taking office.

French Attacks Fail on Verdun Front Line
Berlin reports two French assaults on the German line along Deadman hill at Verdun failed. In the first assault the French briefly gained ground but a counterattack pushed them back, according to the war office on Friday.
