Hancock County Board Meeting Deliberations In Carthage
The Hancock county board of supervisors met in regular session in the courthouse with most members present. They appointed standing committees for the ensuing year, reviewed Supt S D Weiser's county home and farm report, approved medical pauper contracts, and discussed jail, blind relief, and bridge matters. The board toured the county home, praised Superintendent Weiser and Ms Weiser, and arranged future electric wiring work though right of way issues delayed progress. They also sent delegates to a Quincy meeting and noted Knights of Columbus activities and local civic visits.

In a game yesterday Baxter sustained a severe blow to the head while sliding into second as Lingle’s throw to Vogel caused an out. He recovered enough to rejoin play after a brief delay. Vogel’s feud rumor with the Baxter family surfaced after Bill Brennan stated no personal grievance against Vogel. Otto was struck out four times by His Majesty in yesterday’s contest. Ziggy Sherer lined a long eighth inning hit to center that could have become a home run, but he remained at third as Sondheim struck out. Free admission for ladies continues through the week with many taking advantage.
